Free Agents

Free Agents are players that register individually WITHOUT creating/or joining a friend group.  Free agency is great if you are looking to meet new people and do not care what team you play for.  Those that are more particular please see the steps below.

How do I make sure I am on the same team as my friends?
Step 1: Register early.  If you register early, prior to the Team Registration Deadline, you do not have to worry about being subject to random placement.  Once the registration deadline passes free agents are placed onto friend groups that do not meet the 15 player minimum.

Step 2: Assign a Captain.  Captains create friend groups when they register and communicate reminder information to players within the group.

Step 3:  Register under friend group created.  When you register you will be able to create or pick a friend group to join.  From your profile page (log in and click your user name in the top right corner) you can access the friend group option.

Super Bowl Under Performs

Ok, so the Super Bowl didn't really seem like a game this year.  Yes there were two good teams that deserved to be in it, and yes the half time show was kinda cool (can't go wrong with throwback), and yes I ate like a starving Somalian that just had food dropped off by Sally Struthers.  However, the excitement of Super Bowl Sunday was just not there.

I think the passion is gone.....I came to this conclusion this morning as I got my daily Sports Center fix.  During a interview with Tom Brady and several other players they just didn't seem all that upset about losing the game.....Yes they played a good game, but this is the championship of the WORLD man....show me some damn tears!  Or maybe it is all those other Super Bowl rings in your closet that just makes this a meaningless game.

In any case, if the fans are willing to come see teams play, pay thousands of dollars of their hard earned money in a down economy, and put up with pro athletes crazy ass salaries, then I expect to see some hard core passion.

In my mind passion includes: broken bones, a little bit of blood (not too much, a little squeamish), big ole' crocodile tears when you lose and a hint of turf toe with a smidgen of brain bruising just to put the cherry on top.  So to all the pro athletes out there, ENTERTAIN ME!

For all the millions of dollars you receive every year for endorsements and salary negotiations you should be willing to do what the fans want.  If that includes dressing up like a monkey and dancing around like a ballerina......DO IT.  I want to be entertained.  Anyone else in their right mind would put on a monkey suit in a second for a percentage of what Tom Brady makes in just one year.

So I want to call out all the Tom Brady's and Eli Manning's of the world.  Come play some kickball, where everyone is entertained and the crocodile tears flow freely.  I have seen more passion in kickball then I have ever seen in this years Super Bowl.

How to get a Free Kickball Season?

Ok, ok so you want to join kickball.  I get that, but who do you know that wants to join with you?  That is the big question.

Kickball is a very word of mouth driven sport and one guy posting to his friends daily will get old fast.  So I am bringing this to you, the kickball nation.

The Contest: The person with the most verified single sign ups (non teams) by February 15 will receive a FREE ($70 value) season.

How it works: Everyone that joins kickball under your referral will need to send an email to mvanalstyne@kickball.com with the subject heading "Referral-Your Name".  So if John Kickball referred Jane Dodgeball then Jane would send an email with the subject heading of "Referral-John Kickball".  Additionally, John Kickball will need to keep track of their referrals and verify their results with the Commissioner on February 15.

Team registration ends February 8 and individual registration ends February 15.  Check other important dates and REGISTER on our league page.

Teams vs Friend Groups

Teams and Friend Groups are similar.  A friend group is the beginning of a team that can consist of 2 - 26 people.  It is encouraged to start a friend group if you have friends that you would like to play with otherwise you are at the mercy of the random placement.

An email can also be sent to mvanalstyne@kickball.com, however it is much easier to get this taken care of through creating a friend group.

Steps to create a friend group:
1. Log into your account at www.kickball.com/txfreedom.
2. Once logged in, click on your user name on the top right side of the page.
3. This will bring you to your profile page where you can choose the option to create a friend group.  Name it something unique, because in most cases this will be your team name later.
4. On that same page you have the ability to email your friends and prompt them to join your newly created friend group.  Be sure to include the name of the group in your email so your other players/friends can sign up.

Kickball Meet and Greet

We are about to start our 3rd full kickball season and I am excited to get things moving.  Spring season is starting off with several social meet and greet sessions.  The first of which is being held at BlackFinn in Addison Wednesday, January 11 at 7:30 pm. Other important dates can be found on our main TX Freedom Kickball site.

Now kickball is not for everyone, especially if you don't enjoy having fun, partaking in a few adult beverages and being part of social club.  If this is you then I would highly recommend not joining kickball.  You might think about taking up window licking or something of that nature.  But, lets not get ahead of ourselves.  Alienating people is not in my personality, so I have made it a New Year's resolution to invite all you window lickers out there to come and try kickball.  It may be painful at first, but I am sure you will get the hang of it.  Even if we have to force the fun down your throat.

Still not sure about kickball? Well then I suggest you come join us for some FREE DRINKS and FREE PIZZA and let us convince you. This is the first of our meet and greets so the mood will be light and fun.  We will be holding a raffle for kickball swag and gift certificates to BlackFinn.  Come for the drinks and stay for prizes.

Everyone is welcome, so bring your friends. The more friends you bring the more drinks we get for FREE. What do you have to do on a Wednesday night anyway?

Starting A New Kickball Team

Using the website can get tricky when starting a new team, so hear are 3 simple steps to help you out.

Step 1- Register:
To create a team you must register at www.kickball.com/txfreedom first.  Once you enter the site you will need to click on the large blue button pictured to the right.  Follow the instructions to create an account.

Step 2 - Navigate to profile page
Once registered click on your user name in the rightmost top corner of the page.  This will bring you to your profile page that looks something like this the image to the right.

Step 3 - Click on the "Create a friend group" option.
A friend group is a way for you and your friends to group together. At the start of a season, League Managers will use friend groups to form teams. You may only belong to one friend group per season. Friend group invites expire after 42 days. Friend groups must be limited to 26 members, as a team may only have a maximum of 26 players.

Your friend group name will eventually become your team name, so be creative.  Some past team names: Where's My Pitches At?, Who's on First?, Sons of Pitches, Ballywood, 99 Problems But A Pitch Ain't One.

Step 4 - Invite your friends:

Invite your friends to join your friend group.  Share the page with an email, facebook message, twitter tweet, or carrier pigeon. Provide the link to www.kickball.com/txfreedom in your message and make them aware of your friend group name. Your friend group will transfer to team status after you reach 15 players.  Partial teams, not equaling 15 players, will be supplemented with free agents upon your permission and availability.

Full Team Payment:
One payment for a full team can be made upon request.  Inquire with mvanalstyne@kickball.com
